Testimonials
We have received glowing testimonials from hundreds of competitors from over 50 countries across the world. Here are just a few:
This event was one of the best 2 weeks of my life. Amazing scenery, personal touches that you dont get during many events of this size. I made lots of new and wonderful friends in and out of our tent. Don't take your phone and you will enjoy fully immersing yourself in the experience with a week off the grid. - Anna Buckingham, UK: G2G 2014
When I posted about this race on my own FB page, I said it was one of the most challenging things I had ever done, mentally and physically. It was truly a once in a life time experience and one that I would encourage ANYONE to try. Whether you are a runner out to set a record or a hiker like me, it will test you in ways you can't imagine as you line up at the start line. I can't say enough about the superb organization and the incredible generosity of the volunteers. Tess and Colin have created something truly special. I loved the race, the beauty of the terrain, the privilege of gathering every day with a wonderful group of competitors. I loved the hot water! Most of all, I know I will cherish this experience for a long time to come. - Kay Bellor, USA: G2G 2019
This was my first ultra, I’d previously only undertaken a marathon on the road. So was more nervous than most. However, the race was superbly planned and executed. All I had to worry about, was completing the race. The scenery and wilderness, that I experienced were simply amazing. The remoteness of the location, really appealed to me. The people I met during the race, are still my friends now. To sum up, an amazing journey, with some amazing people and so well organised. I would highly recommend this race to anyone. - Sarah Witte, UK: G2G 2015
I highly recommend this event! I have now completed G2G 2x and both experiences were spectacular and challenging in vastly different ways! The event is extremely well organized, the scenery something that needs to be experience on foot and the people you meet is the reason I'm considering coming back for a fourth time!! I'm pretty confident no one ever regrets going!! - Leanne Richardson, Canada: G2G 2016, 2018, 2019
Tess and Colin, A great big THANK YOU! What an adventure!
You have created not only the world’s toughest self-supported stage race but also the BEST!
The location, course layout, logistics, group meals, venues, camp accommodations, medical care, safety and risk management are the finest. Not to mention the people who make it all happen including event administrators, camp crew, medical staff, volunteers and Kanab community. All of which are ready to greet you with a smile and cheerfully attend to your needs.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in the event this year and to join the G2G Family. The shared experience with the special people who inhabited Tent 6 and all the G2G participants have created memories and bonds that will last a lifetime.
Your passion for this event shows through in all you do. Your compassion, joy of life, empathy, and genuine concern for the welfare of the runners is felt by all you encounter. Thank you for realizing your vision and providing us with the opportunity to experience G2G. Without you none of us would have had the chance to enjoy the Grand Canyon and Southern Utah as we did last week. Or to experience the tremendous sense of satisfaction associated with completion and life changing effect of having been out there! THANK YOU!!!! - Mark Ulfig, USA: G2G 2019
100% recommend this race, so well organized, the best support I’ve received anywhere, and it’s from everyone... race directors, volunteers, staff, medic and the competitors from all around the world. It was an incredible journey/experience for me, that every time I think about coming thru the finish line it brings tears to my eyes. But, if considering this race, be physically and mentally prepared, you will get challenged both. Lastly, I cannot thank everyone enough for their support, you were ALL Amazing and have made this experience more memorable. - Nancy Cofrancesco, USA: G2G 2019
G2G and M2M both offer life affirming experiences. There are similar races but none as friendly or with such fantastic locations. Don't let that lull you into a false sense of security though - they bite!! - Danny Crookes, Wales: G2G 2014
3x’s have competed. Every time it starts and I’m not there I feel disappointed. Great race, Great volunteers, amazing terrain, wonderful race directors. Can’t say enough about this one. - Matt LeBow, USA: G2G 2014, 2016, 2017
Awesome life changing event and opportunity to immerse yourself with a eclectic amazing group of athletes .... incredibly well run ... tent evenings unforgettable.... lifelong friends..... amazing memories .... can’t recommend G2G enough. - Simon Dodd, Australia: G2G 2014
When two people come together to create a race like Grand to Grand they touch people from around the world and that is amazing. You bring athletes who want a physical and mental challenge together. The athlete knows everything they will need will be carried on their back. If they are lost, off trail, need food and even need to rescue themself they are required to bring what it takes. That is Grand to Grand. To set the course is monumental. To set up the camp each night takes dedicated individuals. To keep the race moving and leave no trace behind takes amazing attention to detail. This is the Grand to Grand. Want to change your life with incredible volunteers and athletes by your side? Sign up for Grand to Grand. This is the vision of Tess and Colin Geddes that I experienced and they will exceed your expectations. Thank you both and the people of Kanab and your team. - Alex Laws, USA: G2G 2019
Awesome event, very well organised and in a brilliant location - Ruby Kwong, USA: G2G 2019, M2M 2017
Seriously, My life will never be the same after this race. The race is impeccably organized, the volunteers are incredible and the people you meet from this race will change your life. The Grand to Grand is an experience that I will look back on for the rest of my life. Was it hard? YES. But it is these hard things that we do in life that make us better and stronger. I am without a doubt a stronger and better person by participating in G2G. I highly recommend it to ANYONE. DO IT. DO IT. DO IT. It will change your life. - Andrea Fausett, USA: G2G 2019
One of the best races. It had all you could wish for in a race. Friendly people, lots of laughs and lots of tears. Most importantly self growth and evaluation. Thank you to all the organisers and volunteers that stayed out in the course inspiring all the runners to keep going. The doctors that gave up their vacation time to put us together for the next day. Thank you all for your support and help. The scenery was breathtaking. I feel very selfish for having the opportunity to experience a wonderful trip to a very special place on this earth. Visiting New York afterwards was a real downer. There was no comparison. Anyone looking for a challenge and an experience of a life time this is it!!!! - Agni Ziogos, Australia: G2G 2018
A phenomenal, inimitable experience. Spectacular sights, wonderful camaraderie amongst fellow runners, and incredible support from all the staff - a particular shout out to the medical teams for keeping me patched up long enough to finish! Tough but very doable. - Christopher McCarthy, UK: G2G 2017
It's been a couple years since my Grand to Grand experience but I continue looking back on it fondly. I loved this trail, staged-race. Epic views. Incredible trails. Covering vast distances. What makes it so memorable though are the people. It's literally like gong off to running camp! Over the course of a week, I grew to form some solid relationships with those sharing our tent. We would push each other, compare notes and encourage one another on. Race Directors Colin and Tess couldn't have been better. The race itself is extremely organized from the course to camping each night. Tess and Colin not only have their eye on the logistics, but on each runner as they take the time to get to know each competitor. My experience at G2G pushed me to be a better runner, a lesson I'm reminded of daily. Cannot recommend the Grand to Grand enough! - Ryan Young, USA: G2G 2015
Amazing organisation, friendly directors, stunning views! Hard as nails race. Hands down one I would love to do again. - James Steele, UK: G2G 2013
The Grand to Grand Ultra was an incredibly beautiful stage race that was also extremely challenging! The race organization was superb! There is absolutely nothing that could be improved on! The event organizers and all of the volunteers are what makes this race the fantastic experience it is! I am very grateful to have been part of it! - Cherie Laplante, Canada: G2G 2019
It is truly remarkable what we can accomplish when surrounded by top notch race directors, volunteers, medics, and competitors in the most beautiful, hardcore, relentless terrain. The Grand to a Grand attracts the best of the best. Everyone pours their heart and soul into this event which makes it one of a kind.
Attention to detail, extremely well organized, and support unlike anything I have ever seen. Thank you all for the adventure of a lifetime...I am so happy and proud to be a part of the Grand to Grand family. Just sign up! - Alison L’Heureux, USA: G2G 2017
An absolutely fantastic event that stands head and shoulders above almost anything else out there. Very physically demanding with some highly technical pieces, unrivaled ever changing scenery, simply the best race crew/volunteers and medical team I have come across anywhere in the world with relentless passion and support who I believe are the heart and soul of the event and the most inspiring group of runners I have had the pleasure of running with. – Anthony Ward, UK: G2G 2017
If you are thinking of your first multi stage ultra then look no further! If you want to be part of a family rather than just a number, this is the race for you! From the moment I arrived I was made to feel very welcome. Very well organised, all the Volunteers / Medical staff always had a smile on their faces when you reached a check point and were there to help you if you needed it. I feel they went above and beyond and gave it that personal touch that made it one big Family, one which I will never forget. I cannot recommend this event highly enough to anyone who is thinking about it sign up, you won't forget it. – Ian Dalton, UK: G2G 2017
I attempted this in 2016, didn't make it all the way but even so it is a memory I will keep forever, can't wait to go back and try again, highly recommend and can't say enough good things about the people that volunteer and organize this. - Joel Koscielski, USA: G2G 2016
Just awesome! Truly incredibly awesome. Camaraderie that lifts the spirit and feeds your soul. Breathtaking but brutal landscapes that will push your body and mind to their limits. Once you emerge, you will be a stronger, more resilient person.
- Andrea Duggan, UK: G2G 2014
