We know that crossing 273 km on foot over desert terrain is tough and requires our competitors to be physically and mentally prepared. G2G takes place in remote terrain where there is very little mobile phone signal and where unprepared people do get lost. We want you to focus on the race and not to worry about other things that are the responsibility of the organisers. That is why we take risk management seriously and have been working with experienced, local professionals as our partners in creating a safe race environment since our first edition in 2012.
One of our risk management partners is Kane County Search and Rescue (KCSAR), a unit within the local Sheriff's Dept., which is staffed with seasoned SAR volunteers. Race management is in constant contact with them throughout the week. In fact, our communications platform is linked into KCSAR so they can monitor race progress real time. We benefit from their intimate knowledge of the region and the G2G course. They are on standby if they are ever needed.
Thank you KCSAR!
