UTAH 115 consists of three races. The longer UTAH 115 course covers approximately 115 miles and there are shorter 50-mile and 50k race options. All three races are out-and-back courses.

The cut-off times are 50 hours, 20 hours and 13 hours respectively.

Runners will encounter a mix of high desert terrain including hard packed sand, soft sand, sand dunes, forest trails, red rock climbs, rocky roads, double track roads and canyons. The starting line is situated in the heart of the western town of Kanab, Utah at an elevation of 4,970 feet (1515 meters).

The UTAH 115 course cuts through some of the most punishing and beautiful terrain in the American Southwest. Runners battle mile after mile of soft, energy-sapping sand that shifts underfoot, forcing constant effort with every stride. The route winds across open desert basins, steep canyon climbs, and rugged plateaus, where the dry heat and endless dunes test endurance as much as elevation does. Every step in the sand feels like a reminder that this is a race carved into the raw heart of the land itself.

All courses will take you on a unique journey through the desert landscape of southern Utah before you finish back in Kanab.  Throughout the course, you will trek by geological mesas, buttes and cliffs and enter a series of unique canyons, hollows and valleys.

In the 115-mile race, you will also cross the majestic Coral Pink Sand Dunes.

Keep an eye out for wildlife and flora along the route including big horn sheep, mule deer, jack rabbits, coyote, prairie dogs, bobcats, desert arachnids, vultures, and unique cacti and desert flowers such as the Indian paintbrush.

Course Markings
Course markings will generally be visible under normal lighting conditions. Abnormal conditions may include sand, dust, mist, fog, rain, snow or any other condition that reduces visibility (other than darkness).

The course will be marked at intervals of between 50 and 100 yards depending on terrain and visibility. If you do not see a marker for 200 yards and you are not on the obvious or logical course, you must immediately return to the last known marker to find the correct course.

We will make every effort to keep the course markers in place for the duration of the race. However, it is possible that markers may be taken, buried, blown over, covered or otherwise rendered difficult or impossible to find. It is your responsibility to pay attention to the markings and to make sensible decisions when following the course. In addition, you will have the gpx of the course loaded on your device.

Where the course makes any abrupt change of direction, this will be well signposted.

The course will be marked by reflective markers, LED lights and/or glow sticks at night. You are required to carry a light that is sufficient to find unlit markers in the event that lights and other illuminating devices are covered, fail or go missing.

If you remove or change the location or direction of course markings, you will be disqualified.
